On 13 May 2024 OpenAI introduced GPT-4o. It said the model offered GPT-4-level intelligence, was faster, and was better across text, voice and vision. It started rolling it out to Plus and Team users, and to free ChatGPT with a cap. When the cap was reached, conversations fell back to GPT-3.5.
For someone new to this: the useful change was access. More people could try a stronger model without a subscription, for a while each day. That is a widening of the table, not a finished story.
