Qatar's Ministry of Municipality met with a Japanese delegation from HarvestX and Mitsubishi Corporation on 25 October 2026 to discuss using artificial intelligence and robotics in agricultural research, according to QNA. Chaired by Yousef Khalid Al Khulaifi, Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture and Food Security Affairs, the talks examined how Japan uses AI-powered robots to improve farm production and how those tools might be adapted to Qatari conditions.
Hamad Al Shammari, Director of the ministry's Agricultural Research Department, welcomed joint research trials at farms and research stations to test whether the technologies improve the yield and quality of food-security crops. The ministry also invited the Japanese delegation to take part in the Qatar International Agriculture Exhibition in January 2027.
